GREENLAND — Challenger Pam Tucker upset incumbent Michael Marsh, earning the state representative seat for District 17.

“I’m happily surprised,” Tucker said. “I didn’t know until the results came in. It was a tight race. Mike was a very tough competitor.”

Tucker said she thanks all the residents of Greenland and the volunteers who helped run her campaign.

“It can’t be done alone,” she said.

Marsh agreed the race had been a tough one for both candidates.

“My opponent had a very energetic campaign,” he said. “She did a good job, and I congratulate her on her victory. It’s going to be a tough two years, and hopefully she’ll be able to help the town and the state.”

Pam Tucker is a Republican who said she believes the state’s top priorities are education, public safety and responsible fiscal management.

Locally, Route 33 is an issue Tucker would like to see addressed.

Marsh, 55, is a private investor. His previous public service experience includes serving on the Greenland Budget Committee for three years and serving as a state representative for two years. He served on the House Ways and Means committee.
